Rottweilers are popular all over the world. They are valued for their working qualities and devotion to the owner. Breed clubs and organizations promote the breed in the United States. The AKC encourages breeders and owners to follow the breed standard and breed healthy Rottweilers. The American Rottweiler Club is a member club of the AKC. It was established in 1973 to take care of the welfare of the breed. Breed fanciers from various countries can acquire membership in the club on the condition that they adhere to the code of ethics developed by the American Rottweiler Club. Nowadays, residents in the United Sates are the major group of club members.
The American Rottweiler Club organizes events to promote the breed. Thus, the club has developed the rules for obedience and agility competitions, tracking, and herding. Anyone willing to start their dogs in these activities is welcome to contact local breed clubs. Here they can acquire information on the rules and get a piece of advice from professional trainers.
There is also a great number of Rottweiler rescues whose primary goal is helping abandoned dogs and rescuing them from abusive situations. Rescue members educate the public on training Rottweilers and spay/neuter programs.
